U.S. RESIDENTS: TELL CONGRESS TO STRENGTHEN PROTECTION FOR CAPTIVE ELEPHANTS

There are approximately 320 elephants suffering in captivity across the United States with few federal laws protecting them.

Some elephants languish as spectacles in zoos, others suffer performing in circuses, and some are privately owned by individuals who force them to participate in encounters. Elephants who are lucky to be in an accredited sanctuary are an exception to the rule - but not the norm.

Elephants are majestic, intelligent and socially complex animals who do not fare well in captivity. Captivity significantly shortens the lifespan of elephants and cannot meet their physical and psychological needs.

Tell Congress to strengthen legal protections for elephants in the United States by: banning captive breeding; the importation of wild elephants and transitioning existing elephant exhibits to sanctuary models.

Lets finally put an end to the suffering and exploitation of these majestic animals.
