South Korea: Stick to the Plan and End the Dog Meat Trade by the 2027 Deadline
On January 9th, 2023, the historic passage of the Special Bill for the End of Dog Meat Consumption in S. Korea passed, which will phase out dog meat by February 7, 2027.
It is important for the international community to keep the pressure on the S. Korean government. They need to hear from YOU to know the world is still watching and is holding them accountable to ensure dog meat is phased out.
S. Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture has reported that 70%, or 1,072 of the 1,537 dog meat farms, have closed down with the help of government compensation.
LCA/ALW will continue monitoring and reporting on the phase out progress of the dog meat trade and provide support to the S. Korean government through our involvement in the Committee for Ending Dog Consumption.
Keep the pressure on! Sign the petition demanding S. Korea’s Minister of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs stick to the plan and end dog meat by the 2027 deadline!
